What Do We Need To Do
The “Recycle with Us” program is a very easy way for the community and us to partner together to raise funds and learn about Waste Battery recycling.
All that is needed is to ask the community to bring their Used Lead Acid Batteries (ULAB’s) to the school or club and place them in the crates provided.
It’s Simple, It Works
There is no effort involved for the school or club with the “Recycle With Us” program. WBC Battery Recyclers will do all the work at no cost to you.
We provide you with our EPA compliant Battery Recycling Crates, lidded if stored outdoors or unlidded if being stored under cover. We will provide as many crates as required and there is no cost for the crates.
We will have our trucks call to your location on a regular basis to check the crate and change the crate to an empty one when required. Our driver will provide you with a Material Disposal Certificate upon every collection so that you have a record of the collection. The crate is returned to our depot where it is weighed on our certified scales to have an accurate weight on which to pay you.
Payment is made either by cheque or direct bank deposit, you just let us know, and a remittance advice is sent advising you of the weight of the ULAB’s and the payment amount. Then it is up to your school or club to use the money in whatever way you wish.
We can provide your school or club with brochures about Battery Recycling that shows how a battery is recycled and what they can be recycled into. You would be surprised!
What Types of Batteries Can I Collect
The “Recycle With Us” program is only for Used Lead Acid Batteries (ULAB’s) such as motorcycle, car, truck, boat and machinery batteries, or batteries that have the Lead Symbol – Pb – shown on them.
Batteries such as AA, AAA, D, C, button, lithium, NiCd, NiMH and mercury are not Lead Acid Batteries and cannot be accepted in the program as they carry a disposal cost.
Can I Get Others Involved?
Why not approach local businesses to have one of our crates placed in their premises for the collection of Waste Batteries? We can collect the ULAB’s and pay the monies directly to the school or club that the business nominates. That gives you more funds for your activities.
Learn While You Earn
While our aim is to help with fundraising activities for schools and clubs, a very important aspect, and it is what WBC Battery Recyclers is all about, is to educate the current and upcoming generations in the importance of recycling batteries to help our environment.
With this in mind, we have developed a brochure that shows the do’s and dont’s of Waste Battery recycling and explains how 98% of a Used Lead Acid Battery is recyclable and what it can be recycled into.
Lead Acid Batteries have been with us for a long time now and will continue to be with us well into the future, so it is vital that we arrest the wrongful disposal of this recoverable resource starting now. By participating in our “Recycle With Us” program, you can be assured that every Waste Battery collected will be recycled correctly which reduces the need to mine more lead for new batteries, which in turn reduces the amount of energy needed for this mining. This can only be good for our environment.
How Do We Become Part of the “Recycle With Us” Program?
We already have a number of schools and clubs participating in our “Recycle With Us” program and are seeing the financial rewards associated with this.
